I envisioned a long corridor with damaged wires hanging from the roof, all illuminated by a single test tube. Using Blender and Photoshop, I fleshed out my original concept.

Here are a few snapshots from the creation process from sketch to Blender to Photoshop.

At this point in the creation process, I had a humanoid in the test tube instead of the titular "orb." I decided I wanted more of the focus on the environment. Having a less intricate object in the test tube reduces the amount of attention directed at one area.
